Nepal Press Council Recommends Shutting Down 15 Online News Portals for stealing news

Recently, the Press Council of Nepal has taken action against 15 news portals for publishing stolen news content. The news agency Nepal had produced these news pieces, but they were stolen and republished on the portals without permission.

As a result, the Press Council has initiated disciplinary action against these news portals. Furthermore, in order to prevent the transmission of content from these portals, the Council has sent a letter to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority to impose a ban.


The Council has emphasized that these 15 web portals are not registered and listed as per the rules and regulations. Moreover, the content they publish is found to violate journalistic ethics and guidelines.


The letter sent by the Press Council also requests that until these web portals are registered and follow the rules, they should not be allowed to publish content in Nepal.
